Hey, I’m Natasha (aka The Unconventional Aussie). I was born and raised in Australia, however, I now live in the UK. In October 2020, I took a massive leap and reverted to Islam. I’m making a lot of changes to life as I know it and I continue to face a number of challenges along the way.

I am sharing my experiences as a Western revert, both positive and negative. I know that there are similar Youtube channels out there however, I believe the more revert stories that are shared, the better the chance we as a Muslim community have at reaching out to those who were as clueless about Islam as I once was.

InshaAllah I will be sharing one video a week.

Natasha The Unconventional Aussie’s Journey to Islam [Intro]

In the video, Natasha shares her journey to Islam in three parts. In Part 1, she talks about her discomfort with religion growing up and her experiences with Christianity. She then describes how she first became interested in Islam through a friend and began learning about the religion through books and online resources. Despite facing challenges and backlash from some people in her life, Natasha ultimately converts to Islam and finds a sense of peace and fulfilment in her new faith

At the beginning of the video, Natasha talks about how she grew up in a Christian family but didn’t feel a strong connection to the religion. She was uncomfortable with the strict rules and judgmental attitudes she experienced in her church community. However, she still felt a longing for spirituality and a deeper connection to a higher power.

Natasha then describes how she became interested in Islam after meeting a Muslim friend who introduced her to the religion. She was drawn to the emphasis on peace and the idea of submitting to God’s will. She began reading the Quran and other Islamic literature, as well as watching online lectures and videos to learn more about the religion.

Despite her newfound passion for Islam, Natasha faced backlash from some people in her life who didn’t understand her decision. She talks about feeling isolated and alone at times, but also finding a supportive community of fellow converts and Muslims who welcomed her with open arms.

Towards the end of the video, Natasha reflects on the positive changes that Islam has brought to her life, including a greater sense of purpose and meaning. She also emphasizes the importance of taking things one step at a time and not getting discouraged by setbacks or challenges. The video ends with Natasha expressing her gratitude for the journey that brought her to Islam.
